A couple days ago Aiden was playing with Madelyn. He smelled her feet, so I asked him if her feet were stinky.
Aiden: “No, they have flowers on them!”
I guess wearing socks with flowers on them will keep your feet smelling fresh!

Today Aiden went to the dentist to get his cavity fixed. He did great! He requested that Rob be the one that went into the room with him, so I stayed in the waiting room with Madelyn. They used nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to keep him calm, and he was very cooperative. As I had suspected, he ended up needing a pulpotomy instead of just a filling because the decay was already to the nerve. He also had to get a crown on the tooth, so now he has a silver tooth in the back of his mouth. We told Aiden that now he has a pirate tooth! The biggest downside to this is that he won’t be able to eat anymore sticky foods while he has the crown, so no more fruit snacks for a long time. Overall he seemed to have a positive experience and left the office with 3 stickers and a stuffed flower.
It’s hard to see, but here’s a picture of Aiden’s new “pirate tooth”:

On Monday Aiden tried out finger painting for the first time. He had a blast! We took a bunch of pictures that I posted on his picture page, but here’s a sneak preview:
Yesterday Aiden went to the dentist for the first time. We’re taking him to a pediatric dentist since we figured that might make it easier for him. He had a rough start and cried when the lady wanted to take his x-rays, but after a while he calmed down and they were able to get 5 of them. Then he didn’t want to sit in the chair in the exam room, so Madelyn sat with him. I had suspected that he had a cavity and I was right, so we’ll have to go back to get that fixed in a couple weeks. Aiden didn’t seem too traumatized by the experience and he was able to pick out 3 stickers so I guess you could call the visit a success. Here’s the kids in the chair waiting for the dentist to come in:

Aiden loves feeding Madelyn and she seems to enjoy it too. Today during lunch Aiden stole my seat by the high chair when I got up to get something, so I wheeled Madelyn closer to him and let him feed for for a while. Aiden had a blast rotating between her bananas, sweet potatoes and rice cereal, and she was thrilled to have her big brother feeding her. Things got a little messy, but overall Aiden did a great job.

Aiden sees me put Madelyn in my baby carriers all the time so he really wanted to try it out too. He’s a little big for it, but here he is in my Ergo:

More pictures are up on Aiden’s new “3 year old” picture page. These include pictures from Aiden’s birthday and his party.

I’m catching up on pictures again and just uploaded the last of the pictures of Aiden before he turned 3. They are on his 2 year old pictures page. It’s mostly pictures from Christmas in this batch. Enjoy!
