Yesterday I invested in a new haircutting kit so that I could try cutting Aiden’s hair myself again. I had done it a few times before, but it took too long with scissors and the clippers I had were too easy to mess up with (which I learned the hard way). We tried out the new kit this morning and it was easy, fast, and did a pretty good job. It looks like I’ll be able to do his hair myself from now on!

We’ve been talking about the possibility of getting fish for a couple weeks now. We were a little undecided since setting up a tank is a little pricey and we weren’t sure how interested Aiden would be. Yesterday we looked around some more and decided to get Aiden a betta fish. They are nice because the fish only needs a small tank and is easy to care for. A nice thing about the small tank is that Aiden can keep it in his room if he wants to. Aiden was very excited about his new fish friend and is really enjoying it, so it looks like it was a good choice!

Aiden is doing great with the potty. We were putting a pull-up on him at night, but most mornings he woke up dry, so for 2 nights now he has gone to bed in his underpants and been fine! Aiden really seems to enjoy using the potty and it’s nice to not be changing so many diapers!

I have a screensaver on my computer that shows random pictures. The kids enjoy watching it so I put it on for them while they were both sitting with me. Aiden was talking about each picture that showed up. A black and while picture of Madelyn popped up…
Aiden: “It’s a gray baby!”
I guess that’s the best description he could think of for that one!

A couple weeks ago we were at the Texas Roadhouse, and we were figuring out what Aiden wanted to order. As usual he wanted the steak bite, so I wanted to know what side he wanted to go with them.
Me: “What do you want to go with your steak?”
Aiden: “Steak sauce!”
Not exactly the answer I was looking for, but definitely a valid answer!

On February 18th, Aiden decided that he wanted to start using the potty. Earlier that day we had been at the doctor’s, and we had discussed how Aiden wouldn’t use the potty yet. The doctor gave me some papers to read so I suggested a few things from them to Aiden. Imagine my surprise when the next time I changed his diaper he said he wanted to use the potty! Ever since he’s been putting his pee pee in the potty and has been doing great. I guess it was worth waiting until he was ready, because he went from wearing diapers that morning to wearing underpants that afternoon. It so nice not to be changing his diaper all the time!

On February 18th, Aiden went for his 3 year check-up. He was 38 inches tall (50th percentile) and 37 pounds (95th percentile). Everything looked great and he was relieved to not have to get any shots.

When leaving for home last night, Aiden was rather sleepy. At home he listens to soundscapes when he goes to sleep. I asked if he wanted to listen to some music and he asked, “Do you have crickets?”
